Reserve Your Place in Lavish Academy
Start with the Intro to Barbering class, then practice and return for a readiness check. Once your instructor approves you, contact Jaymes or Selena at 801-709-1171 to confirm availability and agree on an anticipated start date before paying.
Utah Barber Permit Training
130 supervised hours, and full time (40 hours a week) takes about 3½ weeks and part time (20 hours a week) about 6½ weeks. Whatever schedule you choose must be consistent every week. State approval, your schedule and exam timing affect the overall timeline. Training hours begin only after state apprenticeship approval. Four seats total, two per supervising instructor.
Tuition and Payment
Total tuition: $2,500, paid in full to hold your seat.
This total includes a $1,500 non-refundable enrollment fee.
No split payment, no grace period and no in-house payment plan. No seat is held until tuition is paid in full.
Withdrawal and Refunds
The $1,500 enrollment fee is non-refundable. The remaining $1,000 is partially refundable based on hours completed. If you want to return later, you start over with a clean slate and pay the full $2,500 tuition again.
Included
Instruction, supervised in-house haircuts and lessons, hands-on practical test preparation, and Booked Out study materials and app practice tests at no extra cost. Lavish provides the station and chair, capes, neck strips, cleaning materials and a straight razor starter pack.
Bring Your Tools
Clippers, trimmers, shears and a spray bottle, due on day 3, your first practical day. Students pay their own state application and exam fees separately from tuition.
Attendance
Give 24 hours' notice for absences. A first no-call no-show results in a written warning, and a second results in a dismissal review with your instructor. Makeup hours are negotiable and are added to your regular training days by arriving early or staying late, based on instructor availability. Your completion date moves back until missed hours are made up.
Practice and Testing
Lavish helps attract models but does not guarantee a full practice schedule. Recruiting models, sharing your booking link and studying between sessions are recommended habits for success. Hands-on practical practice tests are Tuesdays only; app practice tests are available anytime. Students schedule their own state exam. We recommend booking about one week before anticipated completion for an eligible exam date after training is complete.
After Approval
Review and sign your student packet, then pay tuition in full. Lavish then submits your state apprenticeship registration. State forms and payment receipts are provided separately. Training completion does not guarantee exam success, credential issuance or employment.
Required Intro Class
Intro to Barbering ($250 per student) is required before consideration. Classes are held on the last Wednesday of each month and start at 7:00 p.m., concluding around 9:00 p.m. Our team will confirm your exact start time when you register. To register, call or text 801-709-1171 and ask for Intro to Barbering registration. Our team confirms availability, sends your $250 Intro invoice and Intro Student Info & Waiver, then confirms your seat after checking payment and the completed form. Students then practice and return for a readiness check on the instructor's timeline. Completing Intro does not guarantee an immediate spot in the program. Apprenticeship enrollment is staff-managed through Jaymes or Selena after approval.
